Public transport & connections
The town of Retz is perfectly integrated into the ÖBB network. From Wien – Mitte/Praterstern or Floridsdorf you can take the regional train directly to Retz (journey time approx. 1 hour, every hour). Retz railway station is approx. a 15 minutes’ walk from the Althof. We will be happy to organise the Retz guest taxi for you in advance so that you can also cover the last stretch in comfort.
Thanks to the Althof’s ideal location right in the centre of town and yet at the foot of the vineyards, you have all the options you need without a car. If you still want to be mobile, we also offer bike hire (10 state-of-the-art, new e-bikes) directly at the hotel! And excursions, e.g. with the Reblaus Express or by train to Znojmo, are of course also possible!
Coming FROM SALZBURG: Westautobahn A1 – Exit in St. Pölten and take the S33 to Krems; from Krems via Langenlois to Straß im Straßertale; through Hohenwart to Maissau; then to Eggenburg, from here via the B35 to Pulkau and continue right to Retz.
Coming FROM VIENNA: A22 – From Vienna via the A22 motorway to Stockerau, continue on the S3 via Hollabrunn to Guntersdorf. At the end of the motorway, turn onto the B30 towards Zellerndorf. In Watzelsdorf turn right again and you are almost here.
Tips for buses:
For architectural and structural reasons (vaulted cellars), it is unfortunately not possible to drive onto the main square and the Althof site. If you are travelling by coach, you can either get off at the bus stop on the main square, in Kremserstraße or in Kirchenstraße.
Attention! Access for coaches to the main square is only permitted up to the bus stop for boarding and alighting via Wienerstraße! After entering the main square, turn left immediately to the bus stop, then exit after the Sgraffitohaus via Kremserstraße.
Parking
On two parking levels below the Althof, with direct lift access to the majority of our rooms, there are a total of 60 parking spaces. The parking fee is € 8.- per day.
Our tip: When you arrive, first drive directly to our reception in the Arkadenhof. There you will receive all information regarding the shortest route to your room.
E-fuelling
There are also 3 e-charging stations for all car brands in our garage.
Flat rate per charging process is € 8.-.
Parking facilities for buses
Bus parking spaces are to be found at the train station, in Landesbahnstraße, in Wallstraße and in front of the primary school in Kirchenstraße (5 – 8 minutes’ walk to Althof)
